Who We Are

BTPT is a group of UK physician trainees, researchers and fellows passionate about solid organ transplantation across a range of medical specialties. The society was founded in April 2023 and seeks to promote engagement amongst like-minded physician trainees and provide educational, training and academic opportunities to help further their careers.

Membership is open to any physician trainee or post-CCT physician within 3 years of the date of CCT from all backgrounds.

The group’s vision was to establish a physician equivalent of The Herrick Society and to work in close collaboration.

Facilitate collaborative trainee-driven RESEARCH

REPRESENT physician trainees on national transplant groups

ENGAGE with other key organisations in the field of solid organ transplantation

Build RELATIONSHIPS between physician and surgical trainees strengthening the future of the professional transplantation community

Our Aims

Meet The Founding Team

BTPT consists of an Executive Committee, Society Council and wider membership. Committee positions will expand as the society grows and will be formalised in our terms of reference with planned 2 year terms.

Elections will be held for organ/specialty representatives from kidney, liver, pancreas & small bowel, heart, lung, paediatrics and intensive care specialties by their constituent specialty members. Elections will be held for the Executive Committee by all members.

We seek to represent trainees across the UK and intend to also appoint representatives for each UK nation.
